ABOUT THE ARTIST

Mark Manning

In 2023, Hesed Art was founded by Helen & Mark Manning to provide a place to share original religious art made for teaching. In the Hebrew language of the Old Testament, the word for God’s covenant love is hesed (חֶסֶד). Hesed means "lovingkindness", also "mercy" and "goodness".

The digital artwork was made to illustrate scenes from scripture to inspire a fresh view of these sacred stories. The images were initially created by Mark to teach and inspire faith in Christ. Following a number of requests to purchase the art, this site was formed.

The digital artist and architect Mark Manning received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Greenwich in Architecture, followed by a Masters from the Royal College of Art and a Diploma from the University of Westminster.  The artwork is created using hand drawing and painting, elements of AI, photographs and 3d rendering, painted over using digital brushes.  Each piece takes between 10-40 hours to create.
